I love looking around my home and thinking of ways that I can better systems we use, products we use, or food we eat. Taking one project at a time adds up to making my household cleaner, more efficient and healthier over time.
Toothpaste is something my family goes through very quickly and, wanting to avoid chemicals and additives that are unnecessary, I am pressed to purchase the more expensive brands that equal out $5-$8 a tube. I have invested in tooth powder from Orawellness for myself and my twins since we struggle with cavities and demineralizing enamel, which I love and have had great success with over the years.
We have experimented with out own tooth powder for many years and have enjoyed the following recipe for it’s cinnamon taste and it’s anti plague and pain relief properties.
Deputie DIY Remineralizing Tooth Powder Recipe
- 2T Powderized Xylitol
- 3T Calcium Carbonate
- 2T Bentonite Clay
- 1/2C Baking Soda
- 1/4C Powderized Pink Himalayan Salt
- 10 Drops Clove Oil
- 10 Drops of Cinnamon Oil OR 1tsp Ground Cinnamon
You can absolutely play around with this recipe and try different essential oils such as peppermint, wintergreen, or orange. You could also remove the salt, if the flavor is too salty for your liking, and add a bit more xylitol for a sweeter taste.
